Nanotechnology » What is Nano

Tiny technology at work.

Nanotechnology is the science of matter at the scale of one-billionth of a meter or 1/80,000th the size of a human hair. Investment in nanotechnology is exploding, with $3.7 billion in nanotechnology R&D spending authorized by the U.S. government in 2003 and international investment reported at over $2 billion.

Most metal sealant products introduce nano particulate matter (i.e.. Bucky Balls, Carbon Nano tubes and finite common powders ground to Nano size) which are usually applied only to the surface of the materials using common adhesive technologies. This sealant is only as good as the adhesive and will, over time, degrade and compromise the integrity of the sealant. This process is also prone to failure through surface abrasion, peeling and cracking and improper applications. When these failures occur, there is a real risk of releasing nano particles into the environment.

Coretrate™ is a true nanotechnology coating, meaning it actually works on the molecular level. Products often use the word nanotechnology, or nano, to describe something that is very small. Coretrate penetrates the surface and manipulates the molecules to form a permanent bond with the material. There is no risk of releasing nano sized containments and Coretrate has low VOC content, so it's environmentally neutral.

This makes Coretrate truly unique and the ideal metal sealant for antifriction coatings and corrosion resistance applications.
